We've been visiting the Prince Edward County Lavender farm for a few years now, and is has been exciting to watch this business blossom (no pun intended!). Their fields of lavender are stunning, and the annual harvests are turned into an array of gorgeous products that are available for sale in a charming Provencal-style shop located on their property based in the heart of the Closson Road district. I am madly in love with their nougat (produced in Quebec using their lavender and it is AH-MAZING) as well as their lavender jelly which is just fantastic when paired with cheese. They carry gorgeous ornately-sculputed soaps as well as herbs, oils, and lavender shortbread just to name a few, and of course dried lavender. You also can buy lavender plants for your own garden, and they offer friendly advice on how to grow and care for the plants as well as what varieties will suit your needs. Wait! One more thing - they also carry Thrills Gum! I honestly never thought about where that soap flavour came from, but it is actually lavender gum - who knew?!?
In July of every year, they pour their hearts into hosting a lavender festival that it extremely well-organized and is a lot of fun. It's also an opportunity to sample a lot of what they have to offer. They also have a cute B&B on their property too, and while I haven't been inside to see it, how can you go wrong staying on a lavender farm in an amazing location with such terrific hosts?!?
We had the absolute pleasure of sitting with Derek and Rolande at a Closson Chase dinner (part of the Closson Chase Supper Club) this summer. They are a lovely couple, extremely passionate about what they do, and it was fascinating to learn more about their business. We had a great time!
